CURRENT CLASS OFFERINGS:

Youth (Age 6 - 10) Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:05 - 7:00 pm

Adults/Sr. Youth (Age 11 and up) Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Adults/Sr. Youth: Every Third Saturday of the Month: Noon - 2:00 pm

Saturday Trainings are topic specific.

Private personal training by appointment.

You are welcome to try a week for free prior to joining.

TUITION:

We have no long-term contracts!

Cost for YMCA members is $15/per person per 2-month session.

Cost for non-YMCA members is $200/per person per 2-month session. ($100/month)

You will be billed bi-monthly, but sessions are ongoing.

All karate gi (uniforms) and equipment should be purchased through the Dojo to insure proper style, fit, and functionality.

Karate Students Sparring

What to Expect

Expect a full mental and physical regimen of warm-ups, strengthening and stretching exercises; karate kihon (basic) techniques — both moving and stationary; partner drills; traditional Goju-Ryu katas; various sparring methods from pre-arranged kumite, to randori (light contact), to jiyu kumite (free sparring), and effective self-defense training. Expect great camaraderie in an environment that both pushes your limits and nurtures you to be the best you can be. Expect to leave tired but satisfied with your progress.

Karate youth students and instructors

Youth Classes (6-10 years)

Tuesday & Thursday: 6:05 - 7:00 pm

We teach the values of traditional Japanese karatedo, which stresses strong physical bodies, self-defense skills, cooperation, resistance to bullying, respect for self and others, sportsmanship, personal excellence in all endeavors, as well as good caliber and character. Our youth do real karate, not a watered-down version.

In addition to the work, we also have a lot of FUN!

Adult Karate Class

3rd Saturdays from Noon - 2:00 pm

Strong traditional Goju-Ryu karate instruction for men and women as part of an international highly regarded organization. High intensity but strength and cardio building for beginners. Get strong, flexible, and focused!

 Private Personal Instruction for Men and Women

For busy professionals, obtaining a private personal trainer has become a preferred method of achieving individual goals - in fitness as well as in the martial arts.  We have seen an increase in the number of clients who choose this method because it allows flexibility of scheduling and the creation of a program tailored specifically for their needs.

Personal training sessions are available for those interested in one-on-one (or two-on-one) individualized training, with concentration on fitness, agility, and overall conditioning as well as the mastery of self-defense skills and a deeper understanding of Goju-Ryu karate.

Personal training sessions are designed to meet the needs and expectations of the individual - whether it be for physical conditioning, competition skills, safety and security awareness, or in-depth study of kata (forms) or kumite (fighting). Talk to us about your personal goals and we'll help design a karate/yoga/fitness program to meet them.

Sessions may be purchased individually and are scheduled "by appointment only" at a mutually advantageous time. A discount is offered for five sessions purchased as a block. Sessions available for all ages and abilities. Contact James Pounds Sensei to book trainings.
